Liquid Design Development

The goal was to design an interactive, data-driven detail page for Teylers Museum, aimed at upper-primary school children.

Details

Challenge

Develop an interactive, data-driven detail page for Teylers Museum’s Large Electrical Machine with Leyden Jars, making the story behind the object accessible and engaging for primary school children through an interactive timeline and a linked quiz. The solution needed to be scalable and reusable for future museum objects within a digital museum platform.

Solution

My solution combines an interactive timeline with a linked quiz, allowing children to discover the story step by step and immediately test their knowledge. Explanations and references to the timeline encourage users to actively process information, supporting reading comprehension and exploratory learning. The data-driven approach also makes the components easy to reuse for other museum objects.

Achievements

2

interactive components

Combined an interactive timeline and a linked quiz to help children explore the history of a museum object through storytelling and active learning.

No JavaScript

required

Built the quiz to work without JavaScript, ensuring its core functionality remains accessible while JavaScript enhances the interactive experience.

Reusable

data-driven components

Developed data-driven components that separate content from presentation, making the experience easier to maintain and reuse for future museum objects.
